Den Chief Training
A Cub Scout Den Chief
or Webelos Den Chief
is an older Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, or Venturer. Selected by the senior patrol leader and Scoutmaster, Varsity Scout Coach, or Venturing Advisor at the request of the Cubmaster. Approved by the Cubmaster and pack committee for recommendation to the den leader. Registered as a youth member of a troop, team, or crew. They help Den leaders, and do their best to encourage Cub Scouts to continue on in scouting, to Webelos or to a Troop.
Den Chief Training is provided by Councils, Districts or Pack Trainers to Den Leaders, Cubmasters, Scoutmasters and Scouts. As part of the Webelos to Boyscouts Transition
, Den chiefs are a valuable asset to Troop and Pack membership plans as well as important assistants to Den Leaders. Attendance at Den Chief training fulfills one of the requirements for the Den Chief Service Award
.
Den Leaders are also encouraged to attend the Den Chief Training sessions.
